What is a VISA credit card and why is it different from MASTERCARD?

A VISA credit card is a credit card issued by banks/ financial institutions in association with VISA. VISA was founded in 1958 by Bank of America. VISA is accepted at 27 million merchant outlets worldwide and is present in over 170 countries worldwide. To apply for a Visa card is a very simple process.

MasterCard is one of the major credit cards used regularly by people in the United States, second only in name recognition and worldwide billings to Visa. By marketing itself to ordinary men and women, in contrast to Visa’s efforts to capture an upper-income clientele, MasterCard is slowly chipping away at Visa’s market share in both the United States and other areas around the globe.

There are also other credit cards issued in association with MasterCard, American Express Card etc. MasterCard is widely accepted at over 21 million outlets worldwide and is present in over 210 countries worldwide. MasterCard started in 1966 to compete with VISA card.

Visa cards are accepted in more places than the other main credit card companies…combined! Whether or not that is true, however, can only be confirmed to oneself. You must get two, maybe three Visa credit cards and see how many different places you can buy things from. Make sure you spread out your testing field–go for restaurants, record stores, bicycle stores, pastry stores, baseball card stores. All types of stores.

Credit cards have wide acceptance and are welcomed at all merchant establishments displaying the VISA logo and MasterCard logo .They are accepted globally by over 22 million VISA Card and 22 million MasterCard accepting establishments.[tags]to apply for a visa credit card[/tags]
